Shivbhakta

Came across an interesting fact about Ravan Dahan.

Dassera a festival that is celebrated as the win of good over bad Or say triumph of good over evil. This was the day when Lord Ram killed Ravana and won the battle, took sita back to Ayodhya.

We all celebrate Dassera with pride, we all are on Rams side the good and the generous ones having hatred for Ravana. We celebrate his death. We do not stop here but  also went ahead and started Ravana dahan.

A huge effigy of demon king Ravana is burned. Everybody enjoys the ritual. We all followers of Ram (hidden ravan inside each) celebrate it in different parts of India.

Ravans father name was Rishi Visharwa, who was son of Rishi Phulsatva, who was further son of Brahma.
Well Rishi Visharwa married the daughter of the demon clan, this Ravan became half brahmin akd half demon.

Ravana was a demon king, but he was half brahmin. It is believed that the pooja which was done before the war between Ram and Raavan begin was done by Raavan being half brahmin.
Later in when laxman was hurt, he was treated by Raavan being knowledgeable, who suggested to get the sanjivani booti to save him (Read in some book).

We all know Raavan was one of the biggest bhakta of lord Shiva. When Raavan was killed it was a brahmin hatya,as well as shiv was very sad after loosing his beloved bhakta. Understanding his pain Lord Rama (lord Vishu) joined Vibhishan his younger brother while doing his last rites.

It was a sad moment for everybody. Thou here we celebrated Rama's victory and glorified it as triumph of good over evil, Ram himself was sad as he did abrahmin hatya and sorry for loss of Lord shiva. Lord Ram accompained Vibhishan finished all the rituals and proceeded to Ayodha after 13 days.

Raavan on the other hand is still worshipped in Lanka and some parts of India too. He is the one who wrote the shiv tandav stotra. Which we enjoy today.
When Lord Ram even wasn't happy about Raavan death..... Should we celebrate the Raavan Dahan.
